And this is the picture of the Riddler- a cartoon character from Batman series:

Nightwish is a matal band from Finland. They started to play in 1996.
Female vocal is one of the most importatnt things about this band. The band had two singers. First Tarja Turunen (in the Riddler) and then since 2005 - Anette Olzon
Nightwish tried once in year 2000, to get to Eurovision, but they weren't accepted.

Music Friday - 1960s

Hello

As I didn't get "Let it be" song on Friday, you can listen to it here.

And once again "When I'm sixty-four" as we didn't have enough time to listen it in full.

And one more song. You may remember that I told you the Beatles started with really silly songs, about love or nothing at all? Here is an example with some pictures:

And last but not least - for those of you who are interested - here is a webpage about the Beatles (in Polish): http://www.thebeatles.com.pl/news.php

Hello everyone,

I have a new task for all of you. Today we will bake.

Your task is to match the four recipes with the right pictures

Picture D

Recipe Nr 1.

Prep time: about 40 minutes

Ingredients:
1 c. flour
1 c. oatmeal
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1 c. blueberries, washed
1 egg
1 c. milk
¼ c. vegetable oil
nonstick cooking spray

Utensils:
oven (you'll need help from your adult assistant)
mixing spoon
2 large bowls
fork
muffin/cupcake tin
paper muffin/cupcake liners
wire rack for cooling muffins
measuring cups and spoons

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400° F (200° C).
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, oatmeal, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
Mix in blueberries.
In another bowl, break the egg and use a fork to beat it just a little bit. Then add the milk and vegetable oil, and mix.
Add egg mixture to the dry ingredients in the large bowl.
Using a mixing spoon, mix about 25 or 30 times. Don't mix too much! Your muffin mixture should be lumpy, not smooth.
Line a muffin tin with paper liners or lightly spray with nonstick spray. Spoon in the muffin mix. Fill each muffin cup about 2/3 of the way up.
Bake for about 20 minutes.
When muffins are finished baking, remove from muffin tin and cool them on a wire rack.
Enjoy your berry tasty muffins!

Recipe Nr 2
Prep time: about 90 minutes

Ingredients:
2 eggs
1¾ c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
1/3 c. vegetable oil
2/3 c. sugar
1 c. mashed bananas (about 3 bananas)

Utensils:
oven (you'll need help from your adult assistant)
measuring cups and spoons
mixer
sifter
spatula
small bowl
medium-size bowl
large bowl
bread pan coated with nonstick cooking spray

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350° F (180° C).
Beat eggs well in a small bowl.
In a medium-size bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a large bowl, add the vegetable oil. Add the sugar a little bit at a time, and continue beating until the mixture is fluffy.
Add the eggs to the mixture in the large bowl and beat well.
Add some of the flour mixture to the large bowl and beat well. Then add some of the mashed bananas and beat some more. Continue adding flour, then bananas, then flour, then bananas, until everything is mixed in.
Pour mixture into the baking pan. Bake for 70 minutes.
Flip your banana bread out of the pan, let it cool for a bit, and cut it into slices to eat and share!

Recipe Nr 3
Ingredients:
2 egg whites
4 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Preparation:
Beat egg whites until frothy; gradually add sugar, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form. Add vanilla or other flavoring. Spoon onto pie, spreading to crust edge to seal filling in. Bake at 325° for 15 to 18 minutes, until nicely browned.

For a higher topping, use 3 egg whites, 6 tablespoons sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Double the recipe for a larger pie or two pies.

Recipe Nr 4
CRUST (recipe makes one double crust):

2 1/2 cups white flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup cold butter, broken into small pieces
5 tbsp. cold vegetable shortening
8 tbsp. ice water
Measure the flour, sugar and salt togetherl. Stir to combine.
Add the chilled butter pieces and shortening to the bowl. Cut them in with a pastry cutter or knife. Don't over mix them.
Add the ice water. Mix until the dough holds together (add a bit more water, if necessary).
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface, knead it together, then divide in half.
Flatten each half into a disk, wrap in saran wrap and chill for at least half an hour.
Roll out one of the disks on a lightly floured surface until you have a circle that's about 12 inches in diameter.
Put the circle in a 9" pie plate, trimming any extra dough from the edges with a sharp knife (parents only). Return it to the refrigerator until you are ready to make the pie.
Add filling (see below)
Roll out the second ball of dough and cover top. Use a fork or your fingers to pinch the edges together. cut a couple slits in the top.
FILLING

1/3 to 2/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
8 medium sized apples (a medium apple = about 1 cup)
2 tablespoons margarine
Heat oven to 425 degrees.
Peel, core and slice the apples. Try to keep the size of the slices even.
Mix sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt in large bowl.
Stir in apples.
Pour into pastry-lined pie plate.
Dot with margarine.
Cover with top crust and seal the edges. Cut slits in the top.
OPTIONAL: Cover edge with 3-inch strip of aluminum foil to prevent too much browning.
Remove foil during last 15 minutes of baking.
Bake 40 to 50 minutes or until crust is brown and juice begins to bubble through slits in crust.
